Ash Wednesday marks the start of Lent, 40 days of reflection and study that help us to understand and celebrate the glory of Easter. It may seem incongruous that Ash Wednesday falls on February 14th, Valentine’s Day, but what greater love has the world ever known than the love of God shown through the willing sacrifice of Jesus? Our relationship with God is the true love relationship that underlies all others. In Christ we are made children of God and It is through this relationship that we are made whole and able to truly love others.
Join us for our Ash Wednesday service at 7 pm in the Chapel as we begin our journey through the 40 days of Lent. On Ash Wednesday we each receive the mark of the cross in ashes on our foreheads, a reminder of our mortality; we remember that we are created by God and dependent on God for our whole life and being.
This Lenten season meet Jesus again in the Gospel of John, the gospel of full and abundant life, the Gospel of love for the whole world: “For God loved the world so much he gave his only Son so that whoever believes in him may not perish, but have eternal life” (John 3:16).
This service is one of many opportunities to connect with God through Passionate Worship at Trinity Presbyterian Church.
