Palm Sunday is a surprising day of excitement in the midst of the solemnity of Lent.
Palm Sunday portrays Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem. The people saw him as the long awaited Messiah who would restore Israel to greatness, greeting him shouts of joy and waving palm branches.
At our Palm Sunday services 8:30 and 11:00am, the children enthusiastically reenact this event. We all greet Jesus, waving palm fronds and calling out Hosanna! as he enters, a beloved beginning to Holy Week.
Lent is the traditional time when Christians everywhere remember Jesus’ journey to the cross. This Lenten season we will be talking about the dark times of life, the times of loss, frustration, failure and temptation. But Christ calls us to remember that God is often most present when we feel most alone. God has gifts for us, even during our times in the Dark Wood of life.
This service is one of many opportunities to connect with God through Passionate Worship at Trinity Presbyterian Church.
