Friends, I do so hope you will join us this week in worship for World Communion Sunday, one of my favorite services of the year. The tradition of setting aside the first Sunday in October for this purpose began in the 1930’s, but it took awhile to catch on. It wasn’t until the Second World War, when it seemed that the world was falling apart, that the spirit of this day that lifts up our unity in Christ was fully embraced. This Sunday we will celebrate the Lord’s Supper in storefronts and mud huts, in house churches and grand cathedrals… and in the Great Hall at Trinity Presbyterian Church of McKinney. Our Praise Kids Sr. will represent nations around the world as they sing an African Praise Medley based on Psalm 117. They will be accompanied by an instrumental ensemble which includes choir chimes, xylophone, African shaker and djembe. See you there!
