About our Worship
We worship because God has blessed us with the gift of life, brings order and purpose to the life lived, and through merciful love saves us from ourselves.
How we think about Worship
Presbyterian worship is grounded in the reading, singing, and preaching of God’s Word as revealed in the Old and New Testaments.
The Bible tells the story of God’s saving love and worship “rehearses” the story over and over until it becomes part of your daily life. Faithful participation in worship leads you to begin to grow deeper in your knowledge of God and self.
The modern challenge to worship is to misunderstand it as entertainment. We live in a culture of amusement and lavishly produced distractions. Here at Trinity Presbyterian Church of McKinney Texas, we seek instead to engage the head, heart, and body with the living presence of a saving Lord.
Music in Worship
The goal of the Music Ministry at Trinity Presbyterian Church of McKinney Texas is for our music to uplift the spirit and to complement and reinforce God’s word.
We are guided by the following principles:
- The music chosen each week will reflect the theme of that Sunday’s worship and preaching.
- Our worship music will reflect the early Church practice of including psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. The music will include a variety of different styles.
- Our musical program will make use of many different instruments. Their purpose will be to assist in congregational singing and to draw attention to God’s love and creative power.
Throughout the year our groups have special singing and performance opportunities such as the Christmas Cantata, Youth Sunday, Praise Kids, Handbells and more. During the Summer we regularly invite guest artists to sing and play during our worship services.
The Music Ministry has many groups and ensembles of all ages. Visit us at the church to see the ministry at work and to learn about opportunities for you to participate.
