Presbyterian Disaster Assistance

Presbyterian Disaster Assistance Update

January 3, 2017 by J Z

Off to West Virginia we go… Yes, PDA has been asked to return to West Virginia – this time to help the helpers.

FEMA, Americorp, and others are deployed to many areas including WV and are there for months at a time, away from their families and friends and living in less than ideal conditions. Burnout happens, which can be a real trying experience, thus making it difficult to maintain a sense of normalcy.

PDA has been asked to return to West Virginia to provide “Resilience and Renewal” workshops for those workers who have been deployed for several months to the disaster area. Karen from Arizona, Susan from Montana, and Phil Darby from your very own Trinity Presbyterian Church, will be arriving in Charleston, WV, on Jan. 17 for six days to conduct workshops in three locations throughout the state. We are hoping for mild weather and no cancelled flights; however, at this time of year you just never know what the weather will be in the northeast. With twisty mountain roads to travel, snow could be a real hazard.

We always look forward to helping those affected by a disaster and just pray that no further harm may occur. Your prayers for everyone responding to a disaster are greatly appreciated.

Blessings – Phil Darby
