Stephen Ministers provide compassionate and confidential care to people who are hurting. Stephen Ministers are christian laypeople trained to provide care to people experiencing a challenging time in life – such as grief, divorce, job loss, illness, loneliness, financial hardship, a new baby, relocation or separation. Stephen Ministers listen, care and share God’s love through stressful times and make a real difference. They are not counselors, therapists or casual visitors.

If you are interested in learning more about having a Stephen Minister walk alongside you, you can directly email our coordinators at stephenministry@tpcmckinney.org.
Additionally, if you are interested in becoming a Stephen Minister yourself, feel free to let us know and a S.M. leader will be happy to talk to you. TPC follows the Stephen Ministries program for the structure of our ministry team and applies the Stephen Ministries materials and techniques to train our Stephen Ministers. The training program consists of 50 hours over a period of four months and requires a two year commitment to the program. The Stephen Minister is expected to meet weekly with their assigned care receiver and monthly for continuing education with the group. Reach out if you would like to learn more about becoming a Stephen Minister.
